Fixed Volume Ultimate Attenuators

We are now making a fixed volume Ultimate Attenuator. We solder together the same OFC male and Female connectors we use on the standard Ultimates and use the same Nude Vishay resistor for the series element and Roderstein resistor for the ground shunt. There is no switch and there is only one fixed volume. The sound is better than any other way of attenuating that we know of. We use it as our volume control in our main system. Of course, most people would not ever consider using a device that has only one volume but you solder hounds can change the resistor to ground for whatever level required. You might want to have a pair (or several pair...each with maybe 3 db difference in volume) for those super tweaky Saturday afternoon listening sessions or for comparing preamps to something way pure. The most obvious use for these is in bi-amp situations where you would want to pad one amp relative to the other or lower the gain going into a preamp that has too much gain (like the Modulus series of preamps). The Fixed Ultimates are available in any impedance from 1K to 100K and can be configured for any attenuation rate into any amp.

Price is $100 for the pair plus shipping. Slightly higher for imdedance versions over 20K. Picture coming soon. Just look at the regular attenuators and imagine no switch.....very simple.

We can make balanced versions as well. They are $200 per pair. Pictured below is one without the resistors to ground.
